Private one on one lesson. Learn how to develop one black & white roll of film from start to finish, including:
Loading your film into a light safe tank.
Preparing and proper use of chemicals.
Washing, drying, and finishing.
You provide your own film. Chemistry is included. Length: 1.5 hours.

Private crash course one on one lesson which covers:
Learn about a black and white enlarger, chemistry, and proper darkroom printing and print washing techniques.
Take home one contact sheet and one black and white silver gelatin print.
Chemistry and paper included. Length: 2 hours.
Students must have their own black & white negatives to print from.

Learn how to enlarge and print from a color negative and take home your prints.
Learning about a color enlarger, color balancing, and color printing.
Please do not sign up for this class without first learning traditional darkroom printing, as there is not enough time in the lesson to cover both.

In this 2 hour lesson, learn how to make prints using the cyanotype process, which produces rich blue prints with brilliant highlights. We will cover chemistry mixing, print coating, and printing, and you will take your cyanotypes home with you at the end of the lesson.
Chemistry and paper provided. Students will need to bring their own print materials. Cyanotype is a contact process, so print materials can range from physical objects to large format negatives. If you would like to use a digital image, please send us the image at least 7 days before your class so that we can prepare a digital negative for you.
A photogram is a photograph made without a camera by placing objects directly onto photographic paper and exposing it to light. The result is a negative shadow of the item that shows variations in tone depending on what items were used.
In this fun, one hour workshop, you will be able to bring in your own items to print (get creative! Using items of varying textures and transparency can lead to exciting results) or you can rummage around our space and use items we have laying around the darkroom. You’ll create anywhere from 3-6 images to take home with you at the end of the hour.

A 3 hour lesson for those who have learned this process previously, but need a refresher course. We will briefly describe the film developing process, going over processing techniques and times and leaving you with a syllabus, though we will not physically develop film in this course. We will then make a few prints in the darkroom, which you’ll take home at the end of the lesson. It’s just enough to get you started again, but not enough to learn as a beginner.

Private, personally tailored lesson with a teacher with over 20 years of experience. Learn the specifics of darkroom printing and hone your skills to a deeper degree. The lesson can be molded to fit your needs or interests, and can cover non traditional techniques as well as all of the classic darkroom tricks. MINIMUM purchase of 2 hours (change quantity to 2 or more when adding item to checkout). We believe nothing much can get done in the darkroom with less than this!
